REFLECTION PAPER ON THE “ICT in the context of students’ lives, society and their strand”

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) which means utilization of different technologies to communicate. It deals with the use of different communication technologies such as mobile phones, telephone, internet etc.

ICT have an important role in the world.

Since we are now in the information age era, ICT has a great impact in our daily lives and one of the economic development pillars to gain national competitive advantage. ICT has become an integral part of everyday life for many people. We will try to know what is the relation of ICT on life, society, and to the HUMSS students.

Dynamic webpages are similar to our life as it is not stable, there are up’s and down’s. Considering life is always changing. Malware is a file that is harmful to a computer user. Malwares are similar to the negative thoughts in our mind which you have to get rid of it as soon as possible to attain a positive life. Web 2.0 allows user to interact with page and also, user is able to comment or create his own user account. In this case, Features of Web 2.0 applies to our life whereas we have to be innovative and unique to the things we are going to originate. In the Features of Web 2.0 we also interact with others by commenting, which also exist in our life, we tend to respond to the person we talked and be updated.

Society is composed of different people that differs in culture, beliefs, ethics, religion, and traditions. So, we try to follow the rules and regulations in society for our safety. Just like social media there is privacy and settings and under of it there are do’s and don’ts. Using different types of social media like Facebook, Twitter, and etc. is very helpful to the society because social media is a biggest source of communication. The impact of social media to the society is having effective sharing of information. But using of social media is always coordinated with the 15 Rules of Netiquette. 15 Rules of Netiquette indicates that we have to be aware and responsible on what we are clicking “think before you click”. Static Webpages are webpages where users cannot do something to a certain content for example news threads in forum websites in which users cannot comment or edit the content of the news. Static webpages have a very little amount of user experience. In relation to society people are very dynamic and complex beings, but there is one thing that you cannot change about them, it is their attitude, they can change their behaviour but not their attitudes.

Copyright is a legal protection extended to owner of rights in a original work created. If HUMSS Students and other people has a knowledge about copyright, they will be informed what are the protected works and unprotected works of it. And also, to prevent copyright violation or infringement. Contextualized Online Search Skills helps HUMSS Students or Students about using online search skills for easily surfing of their school works.

In conclusion, we have to use ICT in a good way. We have to be more aware of what we are clicking. We have to be a responsible user. And let us share to other people the knowledge we have about ICT.
